My Favorite Soft Scrub Household Cleanser

I love having a clean, organized house.  I feel like I can't sit down, I can't work, I can't relax, if the house is cluttered or messy or dirty.

But, because I have kids and pets and a husband, my house is easily cluttered and messy and dirty.

Another problem:  I don't typically get excited over cleaning.  It's a chore and there are so many other chores I'd much rather do (like clean a chicken coop, or muck stalls, or sweep the long driveway.)

I've found that having nice-smelling, natural cleansing products at least make cleaning the house a bit more tolerable.  Actually, this soft scrub cleanser works so well and smells so good, I kind of like having an excuse to scrub something.

I use this scrub on the counter tops and sinks in my kitchen and bathrooms, as well as in the tub and shower stalls.  It does a great job, and isn't harsh on the hands like the store-bought versions.  (I will actually use some of this to clean my hands when I come in from working in the garden.  It's multipurpose!  I love that!)

These three ingredients are all you need to make your own soft scrub cleanser.

Peppermint Soft Scrub Cleanser
2/3 cups baking soda
1/2 cup liquid Castile soap, peppermint scent
1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin (you can find this in the health section of most drug stores, or at your local natural food store)

In a bowl, mix together the baking soda and Castile soap.  Really stir it up good, until the mixture resembles frosting.  Add the vegetable glycerin slowly and stir well.

If you aren't happy with the consistency of your soft scrub, eel free to add a bit more (or a bit less) Castile soap until it suits you.

Use as you would any scrub cleanser.  A small amount goes a long way!

Store in a tightly covered container.
