Kitchen Drain Deodorizer

A funky smell has been emanating from my kitchen sink drain.  It happens every so often, and I can't quite figure out why.  But it's gross.

I usually pour baking soda and white vinegar down the drain, and it generally works well.  This was a stubborn stink, though, and for whatever reason the baking soda-vinegar mix only staved off the smell for a day.  Then, it was back with a vengence.

Tonight, while doing the dinner dishes, I dumped a bit of baking soda and peppermint oil down the drain instead. I let it set for a while before rinsing away.

Success!  I love baking soda and peppermint oil, and have used it as a gentle cleansing scrub for countertops, sinks, bathtubs, etc. for a long time.  I like finding another use for my favorite household cleansing recipe.

Plus, it's cheap.  What's not to like about that?
