Recipe: Strawberries & Cream Exfoliant Scrub

Aren't the strawberries great this year? We've been eating through a box a week. The baby loves them, and I'm hoping I get a free afternoon to make some into jam.

But, if not, I can always make this wonderful scrub using nothing but pantry staples. It will smooth, soften, and brighten your complexion.

Strawberries contain alpha hydroxy acids that dissolve away dead skin cells.  Cream soothes tired, dry skin, while honey deeply cleanses.

Here's what you'll need:

1/8 cup chopped strawberries
1 tablespoon heavy cream
2 tablespoons coarsely ground oats
1 teaspoon cornmeal (fine masa type works best)
1 teaspoon honey

In a small bowl, mash strawberries until fairly smooth.  Stir in remaining ingredients.  Allow the ingredients to rest for five minutes.  Stir well.  At this point you may add more cream or more oats to get the desired consistency.

To use, massage well over cleansed face, neck, and chest.  Let set three to five minutes.  Remove with a washcloth and warm water.

This scrub makes just enough for one or two treatments. If you have any left over, store tightly covered in the refrigerator and use within three days.
